Eleanor Mary Mellon (American, 1894 -1979)

Born in Narberth, Pennsylvania, Mellon was a member of the American Federation of Arts, Washington, D.C., and National Sculpture Society, in New York City. She was elected an Associate of the National Academy of Design, in New York City, in 1938, an Academician in 1950.

In 1931, the Society of Washington Artists awarded her a bronze medal, and in 1932, she received an honorable mention from the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors, New York City. The National Academy of Design, New York City, also awarded her the Barnet Prize. Mellon's work is in the collection of Brookgreen Gardens, South Carolina.

Mellon studied with Charles Grafly, Edward McCartan, Harriet Frishmuth, V.D. Salvatore, Robert Aitken and A.A. Weinman. Her work was exhibited at the National Sculpture Society and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco.
